Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to building a digital experience that is open to everyone.

Last updated June 2026

Our Commitment

Elyra is committed to making elyra.design accessible to all users, regardless of ability, assistive technology, or the browser and device they choose to use. We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our benchmark for inclusive design.

We believe that exceptional design and inclusive access are not in conflict. They are complementary. A website that excludes any user has fallen short of its potential.

This statement reflects our current status and our ongoing commitment to improvement.

Navigation

Keyboard Navigation

Our website is designed to be fully navigable using a keyboard alone, without requiring the use of a mouse or touch input.

  • Tab key moves focus forward through interactive elements
  • Shift + Tab moves focus backward
  • Enter and Space activate focused buttons and links
  • Arrow keys navigate within menus and grouped controls
  • Escape closes open menus and modal elements

Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements. If you experience any difficulty navigating with a keyboard, we welcome your feedback.

Screen Readers

Screen Reader Compatibility

We use semantic HTML5 elements throughout the site to provide a meaningful document structure that assistive technologies can interpret correctly.

  • Page landmarks (header, main, nav, footer) allow quick region navigation
  • Headings are structured hierarchically for logical document flow
  • Images that convey meaning include descriptive alt text
  • Decorative images are marked as presentational and ignored by screen readers
  • ARIA attributes are used where native HTML semantics are insufficient
  • Form fields include visible labels and accessible descriptions
  • Interactive elements have descriptive accessible names

We test our website with leading screen readers including NVDA (Windows) and VoiceOver (macOS and iOS) to identify and address accessibility barriers.

Visual Design

Visual Accessibility

Our design system is built with visual accessibility in mind:

  • Text contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA requirements
  • Typography is set at sizes that remain legible at standard zoom levels
  • Interactive states (hover, focus, active) are visually distinguishable
  • Content can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • The website does not rely on colour alone to convey information
Motion

Motion and Animation

This website uses motion and animation as part of its design language. We respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query. Users who have enabled the reduced motion setting on their operating system will experience a version of the site with transitions and animations minimised.

Ongoing Work

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is a continuous practice, not a completed task. We regularly review our website and incorporate accessibility considerations into every new design and development decision.

  • Accessibility audits are conducted as part of our development process
  • We review WCAG updates and incorporate relevant improvements
  • New features and content are evaluated for accessibility before release
  • User feedback is actively used to identify and resolve barriers

We acknowledge that some areas may still fall short of our goals and are actively working to address them.

Known Limitations

Known Limitations

While we work to ensure this website meets accessibility standards, some limitations currently exist:

  • Some complex motion driven interactions may not fully degrade for reduced motion preferences. We are refining this.
  • Certain third party embedded content may not meet our accessibility standards. We work with providers to address this where possible.
  • PDF documents, if any are linked, may not be fully accessible. We will review these on an ongoing basis.
